Lyrics

“You’re the Best of Me” (Randal Johnson)

When I feel alone, You’re always with me

When darkness falls, You light the pathway

All You ask is love, and faith for You alone

You help me see

With faith in You, that’s deep within me

Your confidence, it truly comforts me

Belief in You brings joy, and hope for humankind

You’re positivity

As long as we’re together, I know I’m strong

As long as we’re together, I can’t go wrong

‘cause You’re the best of me

You’re the best of me

With You I get the answers, with each and every prayer

With You I get my strength, I know that You’ll be there

With You I get contentment, and strength to carry on

Father You’re my beacon, with You I can’t go wrong

With love for You, and our neighbors, too

With humility, and gracious attitude

You’ll be there every day, and help us find our way

You’ll see us through

As long as we’re together, I know I’m strong

As long as we’re together, I can’t go wrong

‘cause You’re the best of me

You’re the best of me

“2AM” (Randal Johnson/David Milligan)

It’s 2AM and here I am, wrestling with a sleepless night

My clothes still on and I’m on the phone, hoping that you’ll pick up the line

But it keeps on ringing and I begin dreaming, of how I think things should have been

But your message starts and there’s a fall in my heart, because I know you won’t answer my call

Like a ghost in the night, my mind makes me think of all of my silly misdeeds

You’re voice in my head, the things that I said, I know that I’m killing the seeds

I’m freeze dried, I’m smack tired, I’m thinking and my brain’s fried

I tell you girl, you gotta let me through

I’m tired but I can’t sleep, I’m feeling bad, I’m in deep

Forgive me babe, I’ll make it up to you

You say, “Leave a message”, but I’ve been too possessive, maybe I shouldn’t have called at all

Lying awake, the decisions you make, when you know you’ve lost your love

But you have to go on, with the sound of the phone, and you find it hard to rise above

The sound of the phone and the voice in my head, of a withering, dying love

Like a ghost in the night, my mind makes me think of all of my silly misdeeds

You’re voice in my head, the things that I said, I know that I’m killing the seeds

“Covid 19 Blues” (Randal Johnson)

Said, I got the blues, the big bad Covid 19 virus blues

Said, I got the blues, the big bad Covid 19 virus blues

I’m locked here in my own home, and I’m feeling all alone

I got the blues

Can’t see my own kids

Stuck six feet way

So many infected

I’ve got to get away

I got the blues, the big bad Covid 19 virus blues

I’m stuck here in my own home, and I’m feeling all alone

I got the blues

Said, I got the blues, the big bad Covid 19 virus blues

I got the blues, the big bad Covid 19 virus blues

I’m stuck here in my own home, and I’m feeling all alone

I got the blues

“Forevermore” (Randal Johnson)

Music played the night we met, and I was happy-go-lucky

You aim was focused as we sat in class, but you were kind and wanted to know me

I saw your inner beauty, though I was quite naïve

I surely don’t know what it was, but you saw something in me

We felt the spark from early on, and you knew what I was thinking

Could the flame of love ignite so fast, so early in our meeting

We focused on the plans of our lives, and struggled to get by

We climbed the ladder and moved ourselves, and reached the Rocky Mountain High

It wasn’t long before children came, they made us both so proud

One was kind of quiet, and one was somewhat loud

You molded lives and raised them right while I brought home the bacon

Our legacies grew so quickly in the life that we were making

Now 40 years hand-in-hand

We traveled the world, walked on the sand

I’ll gladly give you 40 more

And keep your heart forevermore

We’ve seen the land Down Under, and crossed the English Channel

We’ve seen the Turkish ruins, and yachts in Monte Carlo

We’ve been touched by many lives, as we’ve traveled on this journey

But nothing means as much to me as the love you adorn me

And now the joy of grandkids is graced upon our lives

With boys and wives and grandsons three, our family has nine lives

Though it wasn’t always easy, we’ve faced life’s surprises

But balanced with our laughter and love, they couldn’t capsize us

We’ve shared so much in our short time, our amazing little past

I love the time I’ve had with you, that spark will always last

Now 40 years hand-in-hand

We traveled the world, walked on the sand

I’ll gladly give you 40 more

And keep your heart forevermore

“Blue Girl” (Randal Johnson)

They say she’s sexy, I guess they knew

Her eyes were lazy, but so are you

She was a dreamer, she fell for love

You should have seen her, oh lord above

She was a wild one, she knew the town

She had you screaming, went down

She came on Sunday, that’s when I found

Oh, what a lady, the best around

She found the Mitchell’s, she left the ‘Snow’

Behind the door, here fame would grow

It ended too soon, that little Chase

Her slender features, her body’s grace

Some came from heartbreak, some came from pain

A deeper yearning, notorious fame

Some sought excitement of exhibition

To tease the voyeurs, no inhibition

They came from bookstores, they came from clubs

With dreams of stardom, exotic love

Some liked the shock and loved attention

And some for reasons too deep to mention

As time went on, the youth of Lords

They came for fame, they knew the score

In darkened theaters, the voyeurs watched

The exhibition the cameras caught

She took a dare, they bought a thrill

The captive audience, they lacked the will

“Hurricane” (Randal Johnson)

It’s lurking out there, and moving slowly

It’s out to get me, and it doesn’t even know me

While gaining strength, and creeping on

If it has its way, we’re gonna be gone

It’s trying to get me, but it’ll fail

‘cause we’re prepared, we’ll prevail

We’re gonna win, we’ve paid our dues

We’ll fight the fight, and we won’t lose

It’s sunny now, it’s gonna change

The news is telling me, I’m gonna feel the pain

Worn and weary, dark and rainy

With the howling wind, it’s gonna be scary

It’s going to get me, we’re gonna fail

We’re ill prepared, and we’re gonna sink

We’re gonna lose, we should have run

The sky is black, no turning back

Mother Nature is kind, Mother Nature is tough

She can be fine, but she can be rough

Gotta pay her respect, gotta heed her pleas

If you don’t, she will have you on your knees

Like The Blob it’s undulating

The direction uncertain, but we’re waiting

Warm water, cool and warm air

Create a monster of a Category we fear

It’s trying to get me, but it’ll fail

‘cause we’re prepared, we’ll prevail

We’re gonna win, we’ve paid our dues

We’ll fight the fight, and we won’t lose

It’s sunny, but it’ll get dark

With rain and flooding, it’s gonna be hard

Blows to the west, then to the east, but

When it passes, there will finally be peace

“In Your Head” (Randal Johnson)

He lives with sudden darkness

His thoughts are cracked and jumbled

Simple tasks are harder now

They once were free, yet humble

She knew she was always different

It was harder for her to understand

The simple things the other kids

Could easily comprehend

They know it’s in their head

They know they’ll get by somehow

They’ll make the best of their position

Their strength will show ‘em how

You seem to lose your cool sometimes

Your world comes crashing in

All your friends seem so far away

You cannot let them in

Her life was full of happiness

Her quick wit was full of light

But in later years that light grew dim

And that wit went out of sight

No one’s alone with any weakness

You’ve got to cope with all you do

You draw your strength from many places

Be kind and love will see you through

In the end it’s in your head

We’re all the same, you see

Our love and joy, our happiness

Comes down to you and me

We know it’s in our head

We know we’ll get by somehow

We’ll make the best of our positions

Our strength will show us how

“Road of Life” (Randal Johnson)

Crusin’ down the highway on the road of life, he’s driving in his car

Through twists and turns and traffic he is going fast, not getting very far

Hit’s the gas, slams the brakes, there’s obstacles all around

Potholes out, tire’s flat, he’s sitting on the ground

He’s looking for some help out there, but it’s nowhere in sight

He thinks he’s got to get it going fast, to get back in the fight

Road of Life…

Cruising through the mountains on is motor bike, he’s wrestling with his mind

Wants that inner peace and harmony he’s hearing about, it’s getting hard to find

Trying to come to grips with all the stress that’s all around

The road of life is tricky, confusion on the ground

Twisting and a turning through this country’s hairpin turns

He’s gotta make it through this place, he’s somehow got to learn

Road of life…

Trucking ‘cross America in his big rig, finds freedom in is brain

Looking down at the stressed-out people, who are making their own pain

They don’t know where they’re going, but their going nowhere fast

He’s gonna keep a steady pace, he’s gonna make it last

That peace and love and harmony is not so hard to find

The road of life is easier, if you just give it time

“Life…Better Late Than Never” (Randal Johnson)

There’s no need to fear…you’re working it out

You will get there…there’s no need for doubt

Savor the path…enjoy the ride

Time is your friend…there’s no need to hide

Life expects you to deliver

In your own time you will get there

It’s a journey, you might run late

You will get there through your own gate

Better late than never

It’s a mystery…you can’t know it

You just don’t know until you show it

There’s no reason to surrender

It’s gonna happen when you enter

You can do it in your own time

If you do, I know that you’ll find

Life will happen when you get there

Better late than never

You’re only a guest at this big party

So just do your best, and let’s get started

It’s your pathway, so make your own way

You can be late…it’s honey and your halfway

Life expects you to deliver

In your own time you will get there

It’s a journey, you might run late

You will get there through your own gate

Better late than never

“Girly Girl” (Randal Johnson)

Girly Girl in the neighborhood

Girly Girl, you sure look good

Girly Girl in the neighborhood

You’re the one I love, and you’re my Girly Girl

Girly Girl walking down the street

Girly Girl sweet enough to eat

Girly Girl walking down the street

I’m so glad to have you, you’re my Girly Girl

Some girls like to gamble

Party way too hard

Some girls are like tomboys

Tumble in the yard

Girly Girl in the neighborhood

Girly Girl, you sure look good

Girly Girl in the neighborhood

You’re the one I love, and you’re my Girly Girl…
